This blog is just about my life and mostly revolves around my son, Jamie. This blog is a combination of everything, whether it may be a new recipe I tried, a good freebie I found, something funny Jamie said, or feelings I'm having about life in general. There's little rhyme or reason. I'll never win any blogging awards, but I enjoy writing about our lives and I mostly do it for my son. It's so easy to forget moments over the years. I've got all these little tidbits of our life in print and I hope that someday Jamie can enjoy them.

I called this blog Mother of Life, Mother of Loss because of my issues with pregnancy loss and the joy of finally bringing this wonderful person into the world. Truly, I feel the pains of loss, but you won't see too much of that here. I am blessed and I am, above all else, a mother of life.

After all the years of infertility and loss, Matthew and I were blessed with a surprise pregnancy. We were pregnant with twins, but unfortunately, Baby A could not stay with us. Baby B grew into a healthy and happy baby girl that we named Bella Marie. We are so blessed to have two beautiful children.

Easter Recap

Jamie fell asleep on the couch in his clothes the night before Easter. We didn't want to wake him so we just slipped his pull-up on (he still doesn't wake during the night to go to the restroom) and left him in his shirt for the night. We slipped him into his bed without really waking him up.

Dynisha wanted her hair rolled so she would have pretty curls for church on Easter. I rolled her hair with socks, leaving the top uncurled so she could have a smooth up-do the following day. We let her stay up pretty late. We waited for hours for Brianna only to find out she had opted to stay at home. I was a little bummed. This is the first Easter we haven't had all the kids. I'm glad we at least had Dynisha. The holidays are just so much more fun with more children.

After the kids were sound asleep I began the task of setting up for Easter. Originally, I had planned a fun lunch "party". I had to decorate and make a breakfast party instead. I made pretty ribbons for the chairs and set up the table the night before to make the room a little festive when the kids got up.

I saved the kids Easter baskets and eggs from last year. I bought large baskets with lovely liners last year. I'm planning on using them every year from here on out. I had to cut back on Easter a bit this year, but got some great deals on the toys so the kids didn't feel the pinch any. I keep an eye on the clearance isle at Walmart and it pays off.

Jamie's Basket

Dynisha's Basket

We set up Jamie and Dynisha's baskets on the chaise. I thought about hiding them, but we were tired. It was about 2:00am when we finished fixing up the baskets. I forgot about washing the liners until I got them out to fix up the baskets. I really enjoy putting the baskets together. I could never use a prefab basket.
Jamie's second Easter I hid the baskets. The kids awoke and got the clue I left. They found the first basket and it was so big that they thought it was meant to be split between the three of them. When I got up I found them sitting on the guest bed with the contents of the basket evenly divided among them. I guess I'm bad for overdoing it!
When I was finished, Matthew ran Brianna's basket so she wouldn't be left out. I'm sure Matthew's parents were relieved when it finally arrived so they could get to bed, too. It's not our fault, they told us when we called to check at 9:00pm that they were bringing her and then told us around 11:00pm that she had decided to stay home.

Matthew and I were so sleepy when the kids woke up they had to literally drag us out of bed. I ended up going to bed a little before 5:00am so I really didn't want to get up a couple of hours later. They surveyed the contents of their baskets before I made them get dressed.

Jamie was not feeling great Easter morning. He was really happy about his basket, but he was very fussy, as I said in my previous post. He had a runny nose and a pretty nasty little cough. Dynisha was really happy, too. It takes so little to make her happy. She was definitely in better spirits than Jamie. Even though Jamie was cranky he enjoyed Easter. He really didn't want to have his pictures taken and got irritated with me. I got irritated with him, as well. My pictures mean the world to me. These days disappear so fast. I really cherish these moments and want them immortalized.
Since I didn't get up early breakfast wasn't very exciting. I made cinnamon toast with the cookie cutter images pressed in them. I also served the deviled eggs for breakfast.

After breakfast it was back to the baskets. Jamie didn't eat much candy. He didn't like much of it, believe it or not. He spent a lot of time organizing the items. Dynisha didn't get to stay much longer because she went to church with her parents.

After Dynisha left, Jamie hid his eggs from himself and hunted them. She left her basket here and when we were not looking he stole all her eggs, too. I had to redo her basket. She was a little miffed when she saw her basket had been violated, but not too upset. I hooked up the Digital Art Studio that the Easter bunny brought Jamie and he played with it for hours.
I baked cupcakes in the afternoon. Jamie enjoyed licking the beaters. I didn't put icing on them because Jamie doesn't like icing much. Why add all that extra sugar if the kid doesn't even like it. What more do you need than pretty cupcake papers & toothpicks?

Dinner was a simple affair. We had hot dogs with a cucumber and tomato salad. Jamie at almost three hot dogs all by himself. You wouldn't believe how much a skinny boy like that can eat!

After dinner Jamie had his bath. He was still pretty lively when he got out and Matthew and I were trying to get him ready for bed. He kept hiding under the covers and jumping all over the place. Matthew got him dressed for bed and we tried our darnedest to get him tucked in for the night. Despite seeming so keyed up, he fell asleep rather quickly. I kissed his soft little head and tucked him in. He smelled like apple body wash. He's just so precious.
