This blog is just about my life and mostly revolves around my son, Jamie. This blog is a combination of everything, whether it may be a new recipe I tried, a good freebie I found, something funny Jamie said, or feelings I'm having about life in general. There's little rhyme or reason. I'll never win any blogging awards, but I enjoy writing about our lives and I mostly do it for my son. It's so easy to forget moments over the years. I've got all these little tidbits of our life in print and I hope that someday Jamie can enjoy them.

I called this blog Mother of Life, Mother of Loss because of my issues with pregnancy loss and the joy of finally bringing this wonderful person into the world. Truly, I feel the pains of loss, but you won't see too much of that here. I am blessed and I am, above all else, a mother of life.

After all the years of infertility and loss, Matthew and I were blessed with a surprise pregnancy. We were pregnant with twins, but unfortunately, Baby A could not stay with us. Baby B grew into a healthy and happy baby girl that we named Bella Marie. We are so blessed to have two beautiful children.

McKalah Turns Six

We spent the night at a friends house on Jamie's cousin, McKalah's Birthday, October 2nd. We brought both McKalah and Dynisha along. McKalah was so excited. We got there pretty late, but the kids were happy just to have a sleepover.

McKalah's mom called to wish her Happy Birthday at the hour of her birth, 10:23pm. It took forever to get the kids settled down and to sleep. It was after midnight when the last one, McKalah, finally drifted off to dream land. It's tough to get five wound up kids to sleep.

The next day for dinner we set up a bit of a party with leftover party supplies from previous birthday parties my friend had for her daughter. We had matching plates, napkins, blowers, and cups, but we had to use Dora party hats. The kids loved them anyway.

I was surprised that Jamie was willing to wear a hat. He usually won't tolerate them for even a moment. Even Dynisha wanted one.

We fixed stuffed shells with garlic bread for dinner, but desert, of course, was the main event. Before dinner I made chocolate cupcakes with McKalah and all the kids had stirred food coloring into icing to make an assorted rainbow to decorate the cakes with. We also had oreo pudding in pretty parfait glasses.

Decorating the cupcakes was even more fun than eating the. Each child was allowed two cupcakes. Jamie didn't want to ice his. He prefers his cupcakes plain. The other kids delighted in decorating their cupcakes but McKalah and another child only managed to eat one. Dynisha was so full she took hers home with her.

It was so late when we headed home, all three kids fell asleep in the car. Sometimes the simplest parties are just as much fun for the kids as the biggest, most expensive parties.
